Mark Bland has had an interesting route to the sport of hockey. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, the long-time Red Wings fan was first introduced to the sport at the age of five. Mark’s first encounter with the game of hockey, like a lot of children in the 90s, was through Disney’s Mighty Ducks series.
After watching the films countless times, Mark attempted to play the game, only having experience playing street hockey with other kids in his neighborhood. However, a young Mark did manage to teach himself to acquire basic ice skating skills.
Early in his sports career, Mark has worked in various roles with the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons and several other organizations and collegiate athletic programs. After some time away from sports, Mark relocated to Southern California where he got into the sport of hockey from a professional standpoint. Since the summer of 2016, Mark has worked for the San Diego Gulls Hockey Club (Anaheim Ducks AHL Affiliate) and presently works for the Ontario Reign Hockey Club (Los Angeles Kings AHL Affiliate). In addition to his present role with the Reign and DITR, Mark also is a contributor to RinkRoyalty.com (A FanSided.com blog page dedicated to covering the LA Kings).
